The MPU-32 is a microprocessor-based motor protection unit that uses dynamic thermal modeling to continuously track a motor’s used thermal capacity through starting, running, overload and cooling cycles. Overload, overcurrent, undercurrent, current-unbalance, phase-reverse, phaseloss, and earth-fault protection are provided. Stator- and bearing-temperature detectors can be used to provide overtemperature protection. Stator temperature can be used to compensate the thermal model in the event of ventilation loss or high ambient temperature. The MPU-32 is compact in size to increase mounting options, making it ideal for new and retrofit applications. The operator interface, comprised of a four-line illuminated display, four LED’s, and seven push-buttons, is used to observe metered data, to retrieve stored information, to reset trips and for programming. A TIA-232 interface allows access with a personal computer. Optional network communications provide an interface for a distributed control system.
| Typical Applications: All processing, manufacturing, petroleum, chemical, mining, forestry, water and waste treatment facilities, etc. The MPU-32 is an excellent choice for retrofitting and upgrading applications using existing CT's. System Components: The MPU-32 uses phase CT's and an earth-fault CT. Applications using 5-A-secondary CT's require an MPU-CIM Current Input Module (or ICT-2 module for MPU-16A upgrades.) Remote MPS-RTD modules can be added to monitor up to 24 additional temperature sensors. IEEE Device Numbers: 37, 38, 46, 49, 50, 50G, 50N, 51, 51G, 51N, 74, 86 | |
